Camel trek and night in the desert Merzouga
Overview
If you arrive Merzouga by yourself and want to enjoy the desert and spend a night under the stars, we take care of it, ride on our camels and let yourself go.
Itinerary
Day 1
Whether you arrive by bus or rental car we will pick you up to guide you to the place where the activity begins. Once at the meeting point, you will ride on the backs of our dromedaries to leave Merzouga behind and get into Sahara desert.
Crossing the huge dunes of Erg Chebbi we will discover how the Bedouins have traveled throughout the centuries. In the middle of the tour, of more than an hour, we will make a stop to see a magical moment, the sunset over the dunes, you will have time to take incredible photographs of the desert.
Once at the camp we will welcome you with a glass of mint tea. Before dinner, you will have free time to enjoy the relax of the dunes. After enjoying a tasty dinner, the camp people will offer you a Berber drum show around a fire in the middle of the Sahara desert.
Day 2
Today we have to get up early to enjoy the incredible sunrise in the desert, a unique experience. After breakfast and take a comforting shower, we will take the dromedaries again to return to civilization.

If you come by rental car you can leave it parked in a safe area for free.

– Dromedary ride to the camp and return (1 dromedary per person). If you do not want to return on the dromedary, we can pick you up in 4×4.

Tour Around of Erg Chebbi Desert Merzouga in 4×4
Our adventure begins in Merzouga, from there we will travel in 4×4 to the small villages around the dunes of Erg Chebbi, such as Hassilabied, Merdani, Khamilia and M´fis. Along the way we can meet children from the village who proudly show us their little desert foxes.
The first stop we will make will be at a viewpoint on the top of a mountain, from which we can see a panoramic view of the dunes near the border with Algeria. We will continue along the “river of sand”, the track along which the famous Paris-Dakar rally ran, to reach a nomadic settlement, where we will stop to enjoy a delicious tea and learn first-hand the way of life and customs of these desert inhabitants. Again we will take a track that will take us to M´fis, an abandoned town of former mine workers. Around noon we will arrive in Khamilia, also known as the “village of the blacks”, since its population descends from the former slaves of sub-Saharan Africa, there we will enjoy its traditional Gnawa music. It’s time for lunch, and we can’t leave without trying the most typical and traditional desert dish, the delicious Berber pizza. After a copious meal we will return to Merzouga and, if the weather conditions allow it, we will take you to contemplate the Dayet Srij, salty lake in which you can observe a good amount of birds, among them its most famous visitors, the flamingos.
